First ever Many Voices conference brought together all our citizen advisors

The conference was designed to ensure people’s voices are at the heart of what we do.

Digwyddiad Sawl Llais / Many Voices Conference 2017

Held in Cardiff on Thursday 15 June, the event brought together members of our National Advisory Board and regional Ein Llais (‘Our voice’) groups for the first time. The groups have regular but separate meetings.

The conference was led by Chief Inspector Gillian Baranski, who spoke about the importance of not only hearing the views of members – many of whom have social care backgrounds or are carers themselves – but incorporating those views into our work as an inspectorate.

The Minister for Social Services and Public Health Rebecca Evans AM addressed members to speak about forthcoming legislation and was present to launch our report “In support of carers”, as part of Carers Week 2017.

Other items on the agenda included the inspectorate’s methods for gathering feedback and an update on what registration will look like under the Regulation and Inspection of Social Care (Wales) Act.

‘Ein Llais’ is made up of 3 regional advisory forums. They provide quality assurance for the regions, ensuring that the voices of people using services inform our inspections.
