New guidance about our commitment to promote and uphold the rights of people who use care and support services

How we ensure that people’s rights are at the heart of the way we inspect.

We have produced guidance which outlines what we expect and what is not acceptable for people who use care and support services.

This guidance has been produced as part of our response to the Older People’s Commissioner requirements in her review, “A Place to Call Home”. (External link)

It outlines what good care should look like and how people’s rights can be promoted.

It has been used to develop our inspection frameworks and our guidance as well as training for our inspectors. It outlines the importance of treating people who use care and support services with respect and giving people voice and an control over the care they receive.
